Hi Shaun and others, This morning when I read the messages of folks having trouble getting this to work I tried doing a self-portrait again and, much to my surprise, I could not get VO to speak the facial thing again. I was pretty sure my face didn't go away overnight, so I thought maybe the issue was related to lighting or background color or my untrimmed eyebrows getting in the way, but altering all of these variables made no difference. I still could not get VO to talk about my face.
Turning to my usual first standard troubleshooting procedure, I cleared all apps from my app switcher as I had launched about a dozen apps since yesterday's successful facial recognition. I then re-launched the camera app, held the phone at arms length with the rear facing camera aimed at the spot just above the top of my torso where my face was yesterday, and voila! VO immediately started telling me I had a small face in my viewfinder. I was then able to do all the tilting and stuff I did yesterday and it all worked fine again. Unfortunately, VO still doesn't seem to consider my dog's face to be a real face, and the cat is nowhere to be found this morning :-( For the record, I am using an iPhone 4 running the latest version of IOS 5.
