I don't know Type 2 Phone but My Phone Desktop allows you to make calls,
send text messages, open URLs in Safari, upload photos to your device,
as well as copy text to the iOS clipboard.

Hi,
I'm curious to learn what additional features you have using My Phone Desktop
over Type2Phone -- apart from the fact that Type2Phone is a Mac only
application that you can buy from the Mac App Store for the same price ($4.99).
When I linked to Dr. Drang's blog article about setting up Type2Phone in my
original list post, one of the comments on his article was from someone who
used My Phone Desktop for the same purposes (typing text for mail, messages,
and anywhere you would normally have to type or use copy and paste to insert
text, with the option of copying from your Mac's clipboard -- URLs, selected
text, etc.). The response was that since Type2Phone worked through a Bluetooth
connection, you could continue to use your Mac keyboard to type on your iOS
device, and copy and paste information from your Mac, even without having an
active internet connection for your computer. My understanding is that by
having to use a web interface with My Phone Desktop, you must have y
our computer on an active internet connection to use it with your iPhone, iPod
Touch, or iPad. Is this correct? I'm just trying to understand the pros and
cons of these apps, and the various options we have for using our computer
keyboards for the iOS devices. If anyone has tried both Type2Phone and My
Phone Desktop it would be great to hear a comparison of features, and what is
best about each.
Certainly, if it's easier to make calls through the web browser interface with
MyPhoneDesktop that would be interesting to know.
HTH. Cheers,
Esther

Thanks, they don't but I checked the iTunes app store and that's where I found
and thus paid for it. It was £2.99 here in the UK.

whilst the mac app looks to be free.

Hi,
Where do you get this desktop app from? Maybe I'm missing something, but I
don't think I saw a link to go get it.
Thanks,
Courtney

I've got it now. Thanks for that. I don't like the way that the whole
registration works. I can't see how you log in. I'll try and play with it
later, as I'm about to head out to have breakfast and work before the Melbourne
Weather gets to warm.

Hi Sara. I've just attempted to download the OSX client, and don't seem to be
able too. Clicking the link doesn't seem to do anything.

I might try it out as well.. I'm good at using my phone but I don't always want
to drag the keyboard out when I'm at home lol!

Am going to check this one out. Hate having to type a long text on i-phone.
Am bad enough using a regular keyboard let alone a small part of an i-phone to
type on.

My Phone Desktop is a very clever, awesome universal iOS app to basically
control your iOS device from your desktop or web browser. You can:
1. Make calls and send SMS messages.
2. Transfer text by copying it to the iOS device's clipboard to be pasted later.
3. Easily open long URLs in Safari on your iOS device.
4. Transfer images on your desktop to your iOS device. (note not tried this
with the web client yet).
I have posted the app over at www.applevis.com under the productivity section.
Please read this for a few accessibility comments.
Now, here is the link to the app in the iTunes store.
