Eric --A few thoughts: 1. Regarding a utility named "Merge" -- Might you perhaps be referring to Apple's utility named "Migration Assistant?" If you really are using a program named Merge, could you provide some more details about it, such as where you found this utility, what it is supposed to do, what version you are running? 2. Did you completely power down the VM before beginning the process of moving it to the new mac? VMWare specifically warns against copying virtual machines that are in sleep, suspend or hibernation mode. 3. What model mac are you copying from / to? They will likely have different hardware components which means the VMs will likely require different device drivers, thus possibly requiring a re-run of the VM Tools utility on the new mac. 4. Did you use this "Merge" utility to move the VMWare Fusion Application from your old mac to the new? I'm referring to the Fusion application itself, not just the virtual machine. Perhaps you might try installing Fusion from scratch on the new machine and, if you are considering upgrading to version 4 as you mentioned, maybe don't even bother installing your current version, just go with the trial of version 4, which you can download from VMWare.com. It'll import your existing VMs and you'll be able to get a feel for the new version before deciding whether you want to upgrade.
