It will do the upgrade. You won't loose any data that way but if you have a corrupt settings something you will migrate that over. it's best to do a clean install in my humble opinion then migrate your apps and stuff over using the migration wizard. of corse you are going to get differing opinions on this subject but to each his own. I do a clean install of all of my OSs starting from what ever I had in 2001. lol!
