Yes, this is the best way.  You cna't burn the DMG onto a DVD disk unless it 
is the larger ones.  It won't fit onto a single layer disk.  

    Lion disk maker is easy to use and works great.  I made a bootable 
installation disk on a USB 8 GB thumb drive that has worked like a charm.
