Hi Eric,

The link provided in my initial post contained a sample script. The hypertext
was stripped away even though you retained the HTML formatting, so perhaps it
only showed up as a hyperlink in my version? Very strange. I will include the
actual URL below, but if the list mods, or someone else is following, I am
going to restore the hyperlinked text from my original post and am very curious
whether it is also stripped away. If hyperlinks are indeed being stripped,
then a lot of my posts have not been nearly as descriptive as I intended.

Anyway, the URL is:
http://www.devdaily.com/blog/post/mac-os-x/applescript-simulating-enter-key

There you'll find the following script which simulates pressing Enter:

Quote
-- simulate pressing the Enter key
key code 36
Unquote

Finally, I restored my initial post, so the words: "This little example
describing how to simulate the enter key" should show up as hyperlinked in
everyone elses in-box. If not, I suggest that the administrators consider
changing that filter. And to those who would argue that blind people can't
deal with HTML formatted emails, I would suggest that in this day and age, it
is as ubiquitous as in-door plumbing, hence it may be a good time to upgrade
your mail app <smile>.

Best regards.
Geoff

  Hi Geoff,

Thanks for this. If I ever find the script all ready made I'll assign a
gesture. In the meantime I'll stop searching the menu area for the enter key
or spacebar keystroke.

  Best.

  Hi Eric,

I invested the life changing sum of twenty bucks for ML, but alas it's not
yet installed on my mid 2010 MBP. This is because like Sarah, I always install
a new OS on a clean partition, and have finally gotten around to backing things
up, but I digress. So much for disclaimers, but I can only speak for Lion when
saying that the trackpad commander does not directly support what you're trying
to do. I assume that ML has not changed in this regard.

All is not lost, however, because a potentially powerful feature in trackpad,
keyboard, numpad and navkey commanders is the ability to attach scripts or
autamator workflows to specific gestures or key strokes. You'll find this
under the "custom commands" menu. I did some cursory googling on the string
"applescript enter-key" and found several references, but this little example
describing how to simulate the enter key seemed to be the best starting point,
as it links to a way to ascertain all the keycodes.

  Best regards,
  Geoff

either presses the space bar or presses enter. This would be helpful in
iTunes. I looked tour the help documentation and through Voice Over utility
but did not find a way to assign this to a gesture. Is this possible? if so
how?
