This can be done via a couple of third party Mac Apps which can be bought
from the Mac App store.
1. Mac2phone.
2. iKeyboard.
I prefer the latter as it allows you to fully control an iOS device. It
literally emulates a bluetooth hardware keyboard. The former I believe only
allows you to type the text which can then be copied or pasted or directly
send as an SMS.
