Yes you can join wifi but I didn't know you could setup and maintain one 
easily.  As far as I'm aware you need a wired connection to create a wifi 
network but I'm happy to be wrong. 

I will say that our AirPort Extreme is the most stable wireless router we've 
ever had and having airport utility on the mac and my iPhone is so handy.
