I do have that FiRe -2, but the latest updates and can't even access
VoiceOver. Nor could I ever get a refund.

Thanks for the instructions, though.

Take care,

Brenda

Subject: Re: AudioShare - audio document manager iOS app is free today
(July15, 2013)

Hi Sarah, Dónal, and Others,

Audiobus has been on sale for a while for $4.99 (half price), and I expect
it will stay at that price for a while longer. People should be very
careful about trying to use this on older processors, because it can make
things very sluggish when you are using VoiceOver That's why I put in the
warning about the iPod Touch, in particular. Fifth generation just makes
the cut. Best performer is the latest model iPad, followed by the iPad 3.
Even though GarageBand is Audiobus compatible, if you run that on a fourth
generation iPod Touch, the Audiobus features won't work. Technically, some
Audiobus features might work, but the performance hit was so bad that Apple
decided that it wasn't supportable.

FiRe 2 is another of the apps that is Audiobus compatible. I don't know
whether any of you still have that app, but I posted a reply to Dane's query
of a workaround for the drop in VoiceOver level since the last version.
I'll repeat that here, in case anyone missed it: when you add a recording
and the VoiceOver audio volume drops, just do a couple of two finger double
taps, as though you were starting and stopping the background music player.
(I suppose this fix wouldn't work if you have no audio of music on your
device to start playing, but realistically I can't imagine someone who got
the FiRe 2 - field recorder app who doesn't have some audio tracks.) As
soon as the audio starts playing you'll recover VoiceOver at the normal
volume, so just do another two finger double tap to stop the player playing,
and go ahead and navigate through the FiRe 2 screens as usual. I got this
simple workaround from someone on the viphone list.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
