Hi Sean, I couldn't agree with you more. Hiding things or making the user go through silly steps on the chance that there may be something hidden that might show up is poor design. This isn't a game. These programs are tools to get tasks done, not hide and seek. Submenus would be a much better way to handle this sort of thing.
