Hello guys. I have waited for at least a month if not more to compose this message to the list. I have seriously given it thought, and really have thought over and over time after time if I was really willing to face the most likely inevitable concequences that probably would occur from this message. I think asking this question which follows regarding Mail is not a matter any longer of am I willing to risk getting people angry or embarrassed, but more, at this point, I feel I really don’t honestly have any choice of the matter. Maybe it’ll wake up a beast, maybe it’ll get some heads turning, maybe it will get Gordon and Lynn’s attention, who knows. Come what may, and and it torpedoes at full speed ahead.
So, here is the deal. Lately, on this list, I’ve been seeing lots of messages which are completely off topic. I’m not gonna go into the specifics, as, if like me, you indeed have read the list guidelines which you accepted, therefore constituting your willingness to be on this list, then you’ll know which messages I am referring to. I really don’t feel I should have to be specific, as it’s actually quite obvious. I’m not even going to say that it’s one list member that is the offending party here. I’ll leave that neutral on my end, and allow you all to form your own opinions based off of the list rules and guidelines. This isn’t rocket science. Anyway, I’ve done exactly to a T what Gordon and Lynn request that we do when we have concerns. I’ve written them off list at the support e-mail address which is provided both in the guidelines message, as well as in the footer of all posted messages. I’m not even gonna provide it here, as if people truely look at these things, they’ll know what I’m talking about. Anyway, I debated heavily saying anything on list about this publicly, as admittedly, it does defy the List guideline netiquette. The problem however is, neither Gordon nor Lynn seem to be concerned to correct the problem. They always write me back off list and say things like, between the jobs we have we don’t have time, or between this or that, or, we’re all adults, we all can manage things our own ways, etc. yoddie yoddie yodda. Just not even a week ago, I wrote them regarding a few things. I wont’ go into the specifics, but there was an unnamed list member who wrote something totally off topic. This person, whoever he or she may be continuously almost once or twice, if not more a week seems to be posted off topic messages which probably would be more suited in my opinion over on the general techno-chat list. Remember, I thought this list was for discussing Apple related things, and frankly, when I come to this list, that’s what I’m hoping to find. - Not these OT messages which have absolutely not the slightest thing whatsoever to do with Apple. Anyway, getting back to this anonymous person, I wrote Gordon at the support address privately, and addressed my concern. I was extremely polite about what I said. All I did was ask him if he didn’t agree that things needed to be better managed. He then through up the brick wall back at me, as usual of we just don’t have the time anymore, etc. I’ve stated to him multiple times, then you need to appoint a co-moderator. Period. I’ve offered several times, and I’m sure many of you all probably have done the same off list when your support messages don’t get answered. I mean, a little bit of a delay is one thing, but almost every message I’ve sent takes at least a month, if not more, to be responded to, and it’s always the same canned message template. We don’t have time, we this, we that, hit us with, a base ball bat. How does this all play into my question about Mail? OK, intro background out of the way, here’s my question. It’s obvious that Gordon nor Lynn are going to do anything to correct these rightful concerns, and God knows how many other unrelated, or related for that mind, concerns are being procrastinated. I don’t like doing this, but I’m now being faced with a choice. I either can leave the list, which I’m highly considerring, not because anyone’s being rude to me etc. but just because responsibility isn’t being met, nor appointed to anyone who can! adhere to more active activity of presence. So, that’s one choice I have, is to leave. I don’t want to do that though, as I feel a strong need to help other fellow Apple users. How else can people learn if there isn’t a community of people willing to help, as I am. The other choice of the two however is, though I don’t like doing it, to set up a mail filter, and block the consistently offending parties who are doing things personally to me off list, as well as writing off topic or not so appropriate messages on list. It’s a hard call to make. I don’t like doing either of the two, honestly, but at this point, unless Gordon or Lynn get off their sandbox and take care of the things, rather than just saying they will, I’m at a catch 22, where I really feel that my hand has unwillingly been forced. So, my question is, if I choose the ladder avenue, by setting of a block user/users list, how do I go about adding a sender with a message in my inbox to that list so that from that point foward, they’d go directly to my trash folder? Thanks, and again, two things… First of all, this message isn’t to single anyone out. For one thing, why do you think I’m leaving the parties involved completely genderless/nameless. Again, I would not have posted this on list to start with normally, and believe me, this wasn’t a mail I spontaniously just thought up tonight to type. I’ve been as said earlier, debating for over a few weeks’ period whether to post this or not. I don’t like posting it, don’t mistake me, but I feel caught between a huge rock and a hard place. If you want to write me about this privately, my address is: ch...@clgproductions.com But, just know that unless it’s either Gordon, or Lynn writing, I’m going to remain very hazey about the specific details, as that’s no one’s direct concern except myself, them, and the actual offending parties involved. If, however you just wanna give me your comments, then go ahead. If you wanna however tell me where to fly, tear me a new one for writing this the way I did, chew me out, etc. then please utilize your energy elseware, as frankly, I’m not gonna listen to it. I’m just beforehand warning you that now up front.
