You should just be able to turn off your computer, which automatically
releases the DHCP address. However, if your local cable company is using
DHCP tied to Ethernet MAC addresses (that's MAC as in "media access
control", not Macintosh), you may need to contact them to "release" it and
pick up the MAC on your new computer.
