Are you sure that floppies aren't supported under X?

A number of people are using USB floppy drives in X and there has 
just been a driver released that works with floppy drives in beiges 
and wallstreets, etc. That being said, a hub and ethernet or a 
cross-over cable might be a better way to exchange files if you only 
have to deal with your home computer.

I've been web browsing in X (IE) on a beige and it has been quite 
acceptable performance wise, but maybe it is an expectations thing as 
opposed to a usability issue.

Is her heart, or company policy, set on new? Used PBs might give her 
a better bang for the buck
