There is *only* one reason to stay with OS9, and that is (up until Panther)
that Finder actions (windows, copying, etc.) are *at least* an order of
magnitude faster on a fraction of the hardware requirements. I can open
three share points in OS9, copy items to and from all of them and drill down
through 10 levels of folders at least 3x as fast on my crappy beige G3
running OS9 than on my work G4 933 w/1.5GB RAM.

Having said that, the interface is (mostly) a vast improvement, the *nix
underpinnings are a blessing for those of us who need to live in Terminal
sometimes, and the protected memory scheme and multithreading are a godsend.
 I loved OS9, but have really come to appreciate the power of X -- I just
wish it was snappier. :-)
