Well, don't limit yourself. Both my wireless router and the PCMCIA card in
my Wallstreet are from Linksys, but that's because of what was on sale, not
any sort of brand loyalty. Once you've decided on whether you're going to go
"b" ("Airport") or "g" (Airport Extreme), a router is a router is a router.

With one exception.

If the Powerbook in question is running OS 9 or below (forgive me, I've
deleted the post in which you may have mentioned this) and if you plan to
share files with other computers via AppleTalk, you'll need a router that
supports AppleTalk. These are not fun to find. The Airport (any version)
will do it, of course, and so will some models by SMC and Buffalo. (A rather
old review of some of these roters can be found at
http://www.macworld.com/2002/07/reviews/routers/ ). You'll want to make sure
your router is AppleTalk-capable before laying down your cash. (And before
the flames begin, I know 9.1 is supposed to support AppleTalk-over-IP, but
it worked so poorly for me that I convinced my wife to switch to X so I
wouldn't have to futz with it any more. YMMV.) If you're running any version
of X or don't need to share files, any router will do. You may need to set
yourself up for IP printing, but that's easily doable.

Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me if you need clarification,

Mitch.
