Hello:

Need to connect with someone who's familiar with both Bell Sympatico as an
ISP and Mail as an e-mail app, and a seeming incompatibility between the
two.

(Am trying to make Safari and Mail my default browser and e-mail app, but am
running into a significant snag on the Mail side. FYI, am using Mail 1.3.8
under Panther 10.3.4)

So -- has anyone experienced anything remotely like this Mail/Sympatico conflict? Or should I just give up my dream of going all Apple OS X for now, and do my e-mailing in Classic with Outlook Express until a new version of Mail comes along for me to try?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Under Panther, you can adjust the MTU (packet size) settings in the Ethernet section of your Network system preference.
The default is 1500, but unfortunately Sympatico uses a default of 1492, so if your message is just over it might cause problems.
Try setting the MTU (under advanced settings) to 1492 and see if it helps.
