Darrell: You don't necessarily need to have your host and your registrar be the same company. Most hosting companies simply need you to point the DNS information to their DNS -- you set the DNS with your registrar, and your host handles the site. Normally, US-based hosting providers shouldn't have any problems hosting a .ca domain.
For Canadian registrations, I normally use Baremetal.com out of Victoria. Their prices are pretty good, and they're head-and-shoulders above other registrars in terms of customer service, most notably Domainsatcost.ca/Internic.ca, who have some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
