It is my understanding that if you buy "name brand" ram it should be packaged as such.

Apparently, there are a finite number of companies manufacturing the chips used for ram.

I would pay a modest premium for "brand name" but will fall back on price and service to guide my purchasing decisions.

I may try Canada Ram, but, so far I am pleased with the quality and service I am getting from Ram Direct.

I've just bought a 1GB module for my 15" 1.5 GHz G4 Powerbook from canadaRAM.com. They sell both Samsung (ie original equipment) modules and generics. The Samsung from canadaRAM turned out to be cheaper than from one of the lowest-priced US suppliers, http://www. 18004memory.com/, as the latter charges an additional fee for shipping to Canada, plus of course shipping charges of $30 US.

I placed my order online on sunday, 3 July, received a confirmation email on monday, and got the part today by XpressPost. Installed, and works just fine.
