Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a generic across-the-board rule for
all of Dan's lists? If that's the case, and because this list is a
relatively slow list, could we subscribers see if there is any strenuous
objection to coming up with our own guidelines on posting for-sale items?

Were we to have that discussion, I'd vote for a trial period till the end
of 2005 to see how it goes.

I'd also vote for limiting for-sale/trade/barter/free items to no more than
once a week, per person, with no repeats for two weeks.

I'd also vote for multiple items being listed in one post to the list, not
one post per item.

I'd also vote for any responses to be offlist unless the reply would
benefit us all. (ie 'how much is shipping to me' shouldn't be asked onlist
while 'which forms of payment will you accept' might interest more than the
one asking the question. That said, the original post should include
something about payment forms.)

I'd also vote for the subject line to include whichever keyword we choose
('sale' '$') so that those who aren't interested (and who don't strenuously
object to the trial) can set their email filters to avoid the posts and the
threads.

I'd also vote for the items must be in Canada and shipped within Canada.
Absolutely no cross-border.

All the hypothetical votes based on a hypothetical discussion.
