This is what I've tried. 

Of course, no problem with the Brother HL-1440 attached to the iMac.  I 
can also print from the PC, and the PowerBook.

I attached the Canon to the JetDirect, and was able to get one test 
page to print from the PC.  After that, nothing.

I then attached the Canon to the iMac.  I thought I had that working, 
but after one test page from the PC--no go.

And, of course, with the Canon attached to the PC, all I've been able 
to do is print from the PC.

I did check the information that came with the Canon, and their 
website.  I agree with you, Darren, good printer, not so good support.  
I even checked with the printer guy where I bought the printer, but 
he's not all that technically oriented.  I've only had this printer for 
a couple of months.

I think I'll just let it go for awhile.  Maybe someone will come up 
with some gimp drivers for it eventually.
