It was only first revision MDD (mirrored drive door) G4s that suffered from noisey fans. I believe Apple released a kit to rectify it (self fit) that replaced the PSU and Main cooling fans.
I personally would not buy a Mac anywhere other than the Apple Store, simply because they know more about the product than anyone else. If you get it from them or an Apple Authorized Dealer you will get a 1 year AppleCare warranty so you can go bitch about it if it is.
I guess I am just asking for recommendation from anyone who has had a probably with a new Mac and felt that it was properly addressed.
Though at present I am only aware of cancom, cwonline, and apple selling the
DP model.
Apple still sell G4s, although I'm not sure what they have left.
