The warranty comes with the machine, wherever you buy it. If something goes wrong you're not obliged to go back to the original shop - you can use any authorised Apple dealer or deal with Apple direct.


But don't John Lewis give a longer warranty? 2 or 3 years FOC?

I don't think John Lewis offer an extended warranty on computers, although I did get one with my dishwasher. They will, though, match any retail price. Personally, though, I would check out the Apple refurb store on Wednesdays, especially now the G5s are out as they often sell unused discontinued stuff as reconditioned (with full warranty).
