For a while I had an Epson 680 inkjet (not Postscript) attached to the
network via an HP JetDirect 170x box. I used the "IP Printing" option in
OSX's Print Centre/Printer Setup to access it from the Macs. 

In the end though I stopped using it, partly because the connection was
unreliable but mainly because with IP printing the printer driver had
much less features - it seemed to be a generic Epson one that didn't
allow me to use many of the printer's options, such as the higher printer
resolutions. I just put this down to the limitations of this type of
printing (CUPS?). I'd be happy to be told otherwise and that it is
possible to drive a printer fully using this kind of interface.
