Absolutely. I got rid of one such about a year ago and it was a lovely machine but very pricey to fix. However, if you only want B&W, if you get a cheap one and it lasts the length of a cartridge before needing to bin it, it is probably cost effective. My new LaserJet is a budget HPLJ1200N and it costs more to run and produces much poorer prints. The card route can only really make sense if you need to print from several computers or if you need to print to several different printers from one machine I suppose.
