Elementary arithmetic tells me that 16,000 out of 25,000 is 64%. Or -
80% of 25,000 is 20,000. Or - if 16,000 is 80% of the Microsoft
workforce - the total number of employees would be 20,000.

the article actually states that 80% of the 25,000 employees have a music player. This is equivalent to 20,000. The article then goes on to say that 80% of these people have ipods. this is equivalent to 16,000 people as wired mentions.
