FYI, the problem is das Problem and so it would be a small problem or ein
kleines Problem....at least in the singular! ;-)

It's been a while since I used German OS 9x but I thought there would have
been a step in the installation (in case you are willing to try that bit
again) where a pull down menu would ask you for the 'Sprache' or 'Sprachen
auswahl' (language or language selection, as there are local versions for
Swiss, German, and Austrian as well as International English, IIRC) maybe
that was only in OS X...

Not sure about the reason that the disk image for 9.1 won't update but if
you have broadband access and can download 9.2.2 then that should work...If
you don't then let me know and I can send you a CD of the downloaded 9.2.2
update (in international English) as I did very nearly the same thing when I
moved from D to the UK a few years ago. I seem to remember everything would
update and change languages (apps included) with the English updates except
one particularly expensive office suite (who could that be from I hear you
ask?). So there is indeed hope...

If you do ever decide to 'get down' with the German version let me know...I
have several native books on the OS 9, X, Office 2001, v.X, etc...sitting
around!

Let me know if you can get the 9.2.2 combi update and try that or if I
should send it to you?

Gern geschehen
