I've been using my Mini as a general purpose server for the last couple of
weeks. I leave it on as a machine I can ssh or VNC into from work, so I can
start jobs running, find files, etc when I'm away from home. I've also started
the built-in Apache up, but it's just serving test files at the moment.

I've not had any issues with it at all. Running as a server requires very
little CPU processing (unless your site has high traffic) and day to day the
box gives off very little heat. It's also quite intelligent about attached
drives - when not used for a while, my Lacie external drive spins down. The
internal one does too, so that's even less heat produced and power being drawn.
