I've got a Netgear DG834 - been using it for about 15 months without a problem, so it's probably been replaced by a newer model by now. No built in wireless, just an ADSL firewall router. As usual, everything can be configured via browser, which is just as well because the supplied software is PC-only. No real experience yet in trying what you're suggesting though - I've only dabbled with firewall and port forwarding to make sure that stuff like iChat works (I've been toying with the thought of running a web server if/when I run out of ISP space).
