This set a train of investigation - with good results.
Though I typed in the exact same username and password it wasn't recognised.
However I am thinking that I must have changed the password and forgot
(though Keychain obviously knew it) so I have made new log in details and FF
is on fact logging in fine.
I must have changed PW in some parallel life.

Parallel to that I had already found that Web confidential can extract all
keychain passwords and hold them available in most browsers. = so I will
look further into WC as a helper in retaining flexibility with browsers.

all the best
