My husband found that adding 1GB of RAM to his half GB in his G5 iMac
made a huge difference; it had been crawling when he upgraded to
Tiger and now it really moves.

I'm sure that you've read all of the marketing material put out by
Apple. Here are my experiences:
Spotlight is handy but:
1) Won't index the keywords of photos unless you have iPhoto5 (I
don't), and I do have a lot of tagged photos.
2) Takes ages to find anything. None of the snappy search results
that you see at a keynote. (My Tiger machine is a 867MHz Powerbook
w/640MB Ram)
3) Because it takes ages to find anything, if you try to click in
the list of results before it's finished, your target may have
moved and you end up clicking on something else by mistake! Grrrr.
Dashboard:
Actually pretty useful. I like the fact that I could program up
some widgets to do things my way.
New look mail is pretty nice, but I'm a mutt fan so I use that
instead... ;o)
Safari RSS is really really great. It is by far the best RSS reader
I've tried and has completely changed the way that I use the web.
I haven't used Automator really (despite having had Tiger for
4months). When I first tried, it seemed to take an age to start up.
I'm sure that it's super-handy, but I've not really got into it.
Otherwise things are pretty much like Panther, there are no huge
performance gains/hits and there are no massive useability
improvements (c.f. App Switcher and Expose in Panther).
Anyhow, that's my impression.
