hi all
all this discussion of intel processors is making my 1Ghz al pb feel a little sluggish.

i've got a 4200rpm 60GB HDD and 768 MB of ram.

i'm thinking about more ram but am looking at 80 odd quid to add another 256MB (add a 512Mb from crucial, dump the 256MB) or £130 gets me another 768MB (add a 1GB from crucial, dump the 256MB) . I have been thinking that upgrading the drive could be a better performance increase - £125 from scan gets an 80GB 7200 rpm drive or £92 gets a 100GB 2.5" Fujitsu Notebook HDD (5400rpm, 8M).

I do use an external lacie fw800 hdd which is fast but its no use when i am onsite or at home as its a hefty beast to move.

My current system is split into 2 partitions - with a total of 9GB free across both partitions.

i'd be interested in what people think. i'd ideally like a 1.67Ghz with higher res display but i think that its a bit of a pipe dream ATM- plus i run an 17" external display at work so its not essential ;/ if apple are going to release new powerbooks next year (likely) then its probably worth waiting.

cheers
mikek
