John Lewis stores had these in at Norwich - (their online operation is
separate and simply fronts for Apple). They do offer a 2 yr warranty.
Just to confirm: the new 15inch Powerbook have a higher resolution and
though I havent had the opportunity to see one yet I also expect that I
would have to wear my reading glasses to use it - which I would rather
not.
I could presumable set the resolution down to 1024px - and this would
then
solve it - or is the native resolution the only setting that is clear
and it
not so clear if downsizing the resolution settings?

I think the native resolution is the only one that's really clear. And
unfortunately I did have my reading glasses on!
I currently have a 12" PB running at 1024 x 768, which would be, oh,
about 85 pixels per inch (at least horizontally). The new 15" is
running at 93 pixels per inch, whereas the previous model (1280 pixels
across) was about 83 pixels per inch. So there is a significant
difference between the old & new 15" PBs.
To continue the comparison, the same resolution - 1440 pixels
horizntally - on the 17" iMac is about 84 pixels per inch, and the 20"
iMac runs at 1660 - that would be 83 pixels per inch. So the new 15"
and 17" powerbooks are definitely running at a finer resolution than
the previous models, and also than other models in the Apple lineup.
John Lewis: I think the John Lewis store here in Sheffield may in fact
have some, but they're selling them at the full price which isn't
attractive. So on this occasion I'll give them a miss.
