There's a bloke in the States flogging CDs on Ebay
(http://tinyurl.com/9w6r9) to upgrade Mac OS 8 or 9 to the latest
version. It's only £3.99 + £2.75 postage.

I bought one of these and delivery took less than 10 days with Xmas in
the middle. Despite what the auction says, I got 2 CDs, one with the
OS 8 upgrades on, and another with the OS 9 upgrades and the
utils/games, which were quite handy for me, as a new Mac owner
(Acrobat, Netscape, iTunes etc).

I'm not sure of the legality of the upgrades (didn't Apple sell some
of the upgrades?), but I painlessly upgraded my B&W G3 from 9.04 to
9.2.2 using the second disc. I'd recommend it for any G-series Mac
owner. There are also some firmware upgrades for G4 Cubes, iMacs,
Powerbooks and G4s.

He also does a similar thing for OS X on DVD for £5.99 which I may
invest in once my just-ordered ATI Gfx card arrives from
Forevermac.com which will let me install OS X on my Mac, the existing
Formac Gfx card being unsupported by OS X to the extent that the OS X
installer in both Panther and Tiger won't display a viewable picture
on the screen...

If anyone wants me to post a directory listing of the CDs, I'm happy
to oblige as long as you can tell me the Mac equivalent of dir /s/b >
filename.txt on a PC is!
