So we'll have to define an iconset (not only for the UI, but as application and document icons too), that can be used with minor modifications on Mac OS X, different Linux distributions and Windows (at least XP and Vista). And on all these platforms the icons should look as if they had been specifically designed for that platform.I think this point should be discussed more, because this is extremely important, and we need more opinions, mainly from simple users.
The difficulty is that OpenOffice.org iconsets are aimed at Windows users:

Please, keep in mind: *Look good on different platforms *Make sure that Windows users feel at home ___ I'm not sure we can do both of those. In particular, OSX already has a standard iconset, and they are often not the same icons as those used in OpenOffice.org. For example, in OSX, a magnifying glass is Find, not Zoom; email is a stamp with a postmark, not an envelope, and the whole style and function is different. Please see this example:

As an OSX user, I find the OpenOffice.org interface very uncomfortable to use, and very ugly in appearance. I an pinning my hopes on the Aqua build actually looking like a Mac app. Good Mac apps. specialize in intuitive design and uncluttered interface.
