I agree! That icon is very nice, far better than the old OOo one.
However: Background must be removed. Icons must be made for each app.
This seems more like the Writer icon, but it also would be good as the
main icon, I think. Also, I think there needs to have a little more OOo
trademark stuff in it, for example:
Main OpenOffice.org Icon has base RGB values of R 29, G 68, B 88; Writer
is R 95, G 123, B 141; Calc is R 157, G 201, B 21; Draw is R 252, G 179,
B 48; Impress is R 249, G 101, B 1; Math is R 141, G 168, B 163; Base is
R 188, G 72, B 1
And I think the seagulls instead of the 'O's might help the recognition
as well, but personally, I like this one better. I don't think it would
be horrible to have the 'O's instead of the seagulls, but then again, I
don't know what that would do to the OOo seagull recognition.
Also keep in mind that the icon itself should not fill up the entire
square; there should be a small alpha boarder, so make the picture in
the icon about 10% smaller.
Good work and I can't wait to see the rest/final product! :)
And once completed, if anyone wants, perhaps I can make nicer looking
splashscreens (with seagulls) unique to each app that reflect the new icons?

I really like new icon idea! Really nice! I'd be happy to see it in

Thanks for your feedback, and to have taken the time to answer ! (was

I agree, Florian Ponson did a great work, but include a new icon is
not that simple, and make things move is extremely difficult in the
project.
Feel free to forward the link, and propagate the info: OpenOffice.org
for Mac OS X desserves more appeling icons, but nothing will happen if
people just wait ...
