set the read/write bits, and not execute (talk about a dumb limitation

Try doing
chmod a+x soffice
that will set the execute bit

You cannot set the execute bit from the finder.
 I assume I have to set these bits in octal mode from the
console, but which one ? When I compare these to the bits set on the
2.3.1 installation, the scripts are all read only for the user, and yet
they work fine.

BTW, this problem didn't exist for m237.
