Not that argument again, plese...
It is not an argument, pkg_config is a requirement for many projects.

Well, it was a long time work to remove everty dependency for Aqua build, and if ever it is possible to remove any other, this will be made with great pleasure.

I had to use it for other 'things'. The package configure program tracks many projects and would ease whether or not a dependent project is current and meets build requirements or if a newer version is needed. Why does the OpenOffice.org project not want to use it (I don't know why)?

The tool is not in XCode. pkgconfig is a Linux tool, not yet default. Maybe an Apple fault, maybe not.
It will perhaps be included in a next version, but today, it is not.

From my side, I refuse to add dependencies, just because "all other ports are using it". And the idea is: if it is possible to not use pkg-config, let's try without.

Just my opinion.

Regards,
Eric
