Shaun McDonald, 2008/09/28 3:58 AM:
I have just tested OOo 2.4.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.5, without having ever
installed some other X11 software. I also applied my patch at
http://blog.shaunmcdonald.me.uk/2008/03/ooo-possible-fix-for-the-command-timed-out-error-on-leopard/
and have absolutely _no_ problems whatsoever starting OpenOffice.org X11!
It would appear that it is only those who have installed some other
variant of X11, other than through software update, who are having
problems since the last update.
There have been a lot of users reporting that OO.o 2.4.1 X11 is not
working after they upgrading to OS 10.5.5. Check the archives of the
Users list and http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/
I just installed OO.o 2.4.2 on my MacBook. I have OS 10.5.5, XQuartz
X11 2.3.1, and I applied Shaun's hack to 'main.scpt'. It installed
and works fine.
Is there really a OOo 2.4.2?
That was a typo
I installed it so I could use it to export test files as PDF's to see
if they caused the same freeze of my system as the one made with the
developer Aqua version of 2.4.
Um, you will need to look at a more specific build or milestone
number. Once you start working with developer builds the main version
number becomes ambiguous. You will need to go to the about dialog, and
look at the mXX number
Can't be more specific. My system locks up any time I try to do anything
with those files. Problem started after updat to OS 10.5.5
Note: PDF's made with OO.o 2.4.1 X11 caused no problems.
See above for why!!! There are many builds out there that will seem to
be 2.4.1
I was referring to the official release version of OO.o 2.4.1 X11 that I
installed after seeing all the reports that ist no longer worked after
people updated to OS 10.5.5.
This whole fiasco with OO.o on Leopard has left a bad impression of
OO.o on a lot of people. There has been a large number of letters to
support groups about the problems. I wonder how many people tried to
install OO.o on Leopard and just gave up and are telling the friends
that OO.o doesn't work on Macs?
