Jerry, 
That's not it...there was some sort of setting to enable, so that anything
on the desktop had the size info displayed just below the name all the time
as a permanent feature (like having the icon name always appear), to the
best of my recollection.  I'm not making myself clear because I don't know
the proper terminology, but don't know how best to describe it.
