No, I never used QuickKeys or the like. And my Control key works to the
extent that I can Control-click on icons to bring up contextual menus.
Although, I usually right-click my trackball for this.

I see you are typing that carrot that I don't have a key for. I know it's in
KeyCaps, but it's too much trouble to go get it.
