it would be helpful to know if this is a new card and it's size. 'M and H' XD cards are known to have issues with older camera firmware and card readers and olympus is aware of it. simply, the camera firmware can't handle the larger card requiring a trip to $ervice for a firmware upgrade. there may be a free firmware upgrade with proof of purchase of the XD card. i've heard you can pop the card into a fuji camera to recover/download images on the card if you are stranded. best...jf
