Stuart, I am sure you are right and I have something out of line here. I have never seen the configuration and since I didn't know that this should not work I encouraged him to get the LaCie since this would allow the camera to appear on the desktop by plugging it into a USB port that was 2.0. He has been using it this way for many months now, but he is coming by the house tonight and I'll check with him as to exactly how this works and where the plugs are going etc. I'll let you know what I had wrong in this.
