Nora-
I came across these programs mentioned in a column; I'll just cut &
paste them in hopes that the links to the programs survives and you
can find them using the links.
It mentioned...
antivirus software, you have several choices. ClamXav is free.
Symantec offers Norton AntiVirus 11 for $50 a year. You can get one
year of avast! antivirus Mac Edition for $40.
You can get anti-spyware programs as well. Check out Internet Cleanup
4.0 from Smith Micro for $30. And MacScan 2.5 from SecureMac goes
for $25. Intego offers an Internet security suite that, among other
things, includes anti-spyware. It is called NetBarrier X4 and sells
for $70.
As far a defrag-ing a Mac, that topic has surfaced here before and I
seem to remember some disagreement about whether a mac needs it.
Perhaps someone with more knownledge can respond.

What is the best antivirus software to buy to use with Leopard? I
used to only use Norton but am not very happy with them at the
moment. Any other suggestions? I would also like to get a program
similar to Norton that defrags and optimizes the disk. Does Disk
Warrior do that? Or what is the best software for that? I’ve got to
take care of my new laptop when I get it.
