So, I found a PPC which reads DVDs,
connected my computer by firewire & holding down [T],
and re-installed Tiger.
I immediately used Software up-date, rebooted.
It told me some port was open, did I want to close it.
I said yes.
It rebooted.
Now, every program is opening "for the first time",
but my desktop has stopped blinking at me.
