Bill,
     Must be Leopard only. I tried it with Preview 3.0.9 running 10.4.11. I
found a "Select Tool" from the Tool menu but it doesn't appear to let me
select an image in the picture.  Can't find the commands "Extract Shape" or
"Instant Alpha." If someone else finds it, please let me know.
