Oh, Russ, you are kidding! Neither did I look before, nor after the fact. I am just cleaning house. And this old titanium still had stuff from yesteryear in it, having had everything dumped on it from my old 6400 and I was curious. But now I shall look how much space I actually have left. This one, my iBook , has 37 GB used and 8 left. Since my bed is my castle now,I fiddle around with this one. You got me interested, I will check the rest of my machines.

How much disk space did you gain after deleting those [dusty] files?

People, thanks for all your efforts. The question why I asked was that I had that enormous amount in one of my oldest computers, not even knowing what all these leftovers were. So to at least get rid of the stuff I knew, I thought I would get the thing down to size, so I could see what all the old things were by just pulling some out at a time. But it was not to be. --- So I trashed them all out of the trash into oblivion.

1.Is there a way to partially empty the trash?
2. Is there a way to find all your old Apple files together and convert them in one swoosh into newer ones, so I don't have to go through the converting process should i want to open a file, which is rare, but it does happen.
