They used to be done years ago with QuicktimeVR. But it only runs on OS9. I 
think iPix is software that can do it now. There may be others. 
Theres also a half sphere mirror that attaches to certain cameras and takes a 
single picture for a 360 degree panorama (instead of the 8 or more shots of 
other technologies). A software package renders the panorama.
