My iTunes has been screwed up for months. Somehow I ended up with two music folder in my iTunes music folder (I'm sure it's something I did inadvertently). Anyway, my iPod ended up with only partial song lists from most albums and a very depleted list of albums. In addition, there were strange files in many of the album folders ( for instance, "In my life.icns" and "11 Pastures Of Plenty.rsrc"). Also in most of the album folders the songs were duplicated and in a few instances tripled.
Well this weekend I bit the bullet, as it were, copied my iTunes folder onto an external disk, then deleted the iTunes folder and iTunes preferences. Next I pulled 20 CDs off my shelves and looked for them in my itunes folder on the external hard drive. I thought I was going to have to import the CDs into my computer again but as I began to experiment I found that if I just double clicked the songs they were automatically imported into my iTunes library. In some instances part of each album was in each of the two music folders on the external drive. As it stands I've successfully moved 64 albums (926 songs) from my old iTunes folder into the new/rejuvenated iTunes in my system. I have also successfully loaded those tunes into my iPod. Some of the music I ported over came with Art Work but for a good many of the albums there was no art. I used the get album Art Work menu item (under the Advanced menu) to get the art work. iTunes found most of the missing art work but in several instances the album art is different than the art for my CD and there are several albums for which iTunes cannot find art work. I have tried to use the Art Collector app to find missing art work but with no success. How can I get artwork for the albums which iTunes cannot find? and how can I replace the wrong album art with the correct album art? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
