An observation and a question.

After updating the iPhones to iOS5 I noticed that most my text were green, the
color I have grown to love, but then one was blue....so did it go or was the
recipient's phone off line, or was I late on my bill? I hadn't the foggiest.
I wondered it it had something to do with texting someone on the same network
of the iPhone I was using...nope.

Then today I noticed that it didn't say text message it said iMessage when I
was replying and getting blue type. So it seems that another iCloud person
will have a blue text while those outside the cloud will be green.

So this question. When I was attempting to text from the iPad to a person that
didn't have the cloud the message said that the person I was trying to text was
not registered with iMessage....O.K., than turn me green and send the text, but
it wouldn't.

Does this mean we can't text from an iPad unless we are texting to someone that
is on our cloud? Seems so, but if you have suggestions as to what I am doing
wrong then please send my way.

Many thanks.

John
