Folks, this has NOTHING to do with Apple, but I felt I had to convey this news
to our list, I consider you much more than bits and byes on a computer screen.

I am an insurance agent, for 43 years, and we received a note from FEMA this
week that is unbelievable so I wanted you to be aware. Hopefully it won't
affect a one of you, hopefully you will be wiser now if you are wanting to
vacate your present home and purchase another.

My apologizes for throwing a non Mac email. Below is the note I have sent to
others.

John

This will most likely not affect you but oh my this needs to be in the back of
your mind.

FEMA is losing tons of money, so they are making changes. They are NOW
determining that folks who NEVER needed flood insurance will now be required to
carry it. So many homeowners are being surprised that all of a sudden they are
faced with an additional $700.00 or more with these policies. I have an
insured that has one small corner of a barn that sits in a flood zone, never
had water but he is forced to buy the coverage.

Many folks that aren't near a body of water now discover they are being forced
into coverage. No way out other than paying the cost of an Elevation Survey
and then it may prove FEMA correct.

That isn't the bad news.......

This week we received an email (since we write the coverage for FEMA) that the
rates are going to skyrocket, be prepared is what this memo was telling us.

They gave some examples, and the changes are mind blowing. They referenced an
account that currently paid in the neighborhood of $700.00 a year will be
receiving bills of over $7,000.00 per year! Not only can the owner not afford
these premiums all of a sudden they have a piece of property that is
unsaleable.

So, in the future should you be home shopping BE SURE the property in no way
could be slapped with a flood policy, never buy a place where the surface water
has come anywhere near the property in the last 100 years....it will be worth
your while to check.

Wanted you to be aware of this, it's a big one.
